It's done, in time for my birthday too <3.

I've been working on this for 3 weeks now. This is the product of my art final assignment in Studio Art.

I really wanted to try doing another color pencil piece after my Frida portrait.

I realized that for all the pieces of art I turn in for that class, I always have cherry blossoms in them. It's kind of become my motif. xD.

I used a Hannya mask off the internet for a reference. At first I picked it because it fit exactly what I wanted it to look like, but then I looked up the mask and realized how perfect it fit my theme.

As you can see by the title "Only Skin Deep", this piece symbolizes that beauty is only skin deep. The woman's face is lovely and gentle but she unmasks herself to reveal her true nature.

Which is an interplay with the concept that usually the Hannya Mask is well, ... the mask.

Ah, well I'm sure the picture depicts it better than I could ever try to describe it.

I was going for vibrancy in this piece, and I'm pretty happy with the result.

I like the wow-factor I've been receiving from people who see it xD. Makes me feel special.
